Train up a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old, he will not turn from
it. Proverbs 22:6
A Brief History of FCLA
For over 20 years, we have been a nontraditional private school offering record keeping, co-ops, and encouragement to home schooling families in Central Florida. We were incorporated under the name Faith United Home Educators and became a 617 charter school or umbrella school in Sanford, Florida on September 20, 1990. Over the years, our membership has fluctuated; some years having over 100 families enrolled.
In 2008, our school underwent a makeover. Because of the efforts of the dedicated board members, Faith United Home Educators became accredited by the Florida Christian Coalition of Private School Association, Inc. (FCCPSA). As part of our new image, our name was changed to Florida Christian Learning Academy, Inc. (FCLA). We are committed to helping and encouraging families to train, educate, and develop godly character in their children. Enrollment is open to all home schooling families who are committed to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and are in agreement with our statement of faith as well as our procedures, policies, and standards.
Traditionally FCLA, Inc. has more to offer than just record keeping. Some of our annual events may include our Thanksgiving Feast, Giving Day (at a local nursing home), Field Day, and Promotion/Graduation Ceremony. Depending on interest, our students meet regularly for co-op classes where guest speakers are welcomed. We go on various field trips including career exploration trips. Community service opportunities as well as prayer groups/chains are available. We have a library, a newsletter, and an annual yearbook, depending on student participation. We display our school spirit with our school colors, turquoise and black. We promote a family atmosphere where dads and siblings are always welcome.

FCLA’s Philosophy
We believe that God has a purpose for everyone that is born into this world.
Jeremiah 29:11 Esther
We believe that we have a mandate to raise up our children as God has commanded with integrity of mind, spirit and body.
Luke 10:27
We believe that because God has us growing physically, mentally and spiritually, that we must prepare ourselves in each of those areas to offer God our best. This includes continually educating ourselves and accessing the best strategies and tools in order to resource our children’s God-given gifts.
1 Peter 1:13a Ephesians 4:12
We believe that we should seek out Godly knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in order to be ready for every good work that God would have in His purpose for us. In addition, in order to acquire a disciplined, prudent life, doing what is right, just, and fair.
Proverbs 1:1 – 7 2 Timothy 2:15
We believe that as God has created many kinds of temperaments and personalities. There is more than one method to teaching and directing the educational program, according to each child’s God-given tendencies.
